Our newest family member

Here she is! Her name is Harshini and she is beautiful and hungry and I am so proud that we decided to adopt this precious one. JJ Heller the Christian artist sang at church yesterday and had all the information right there for us to pick up so it was very easy and the entire process took about 5 minutes. We can write to Harshini and her family and send her special gifts on her birthday. The organization is called World Vision and it is a Christian group helping children and families all over the world.
Harshini lives with her mother, father, sister and brother in Sri Lanka and despite their efforts, it is difficult to meet their family needs. She likes to play with dolls and she helps at home by being good...(that one made me tear up!) By simply giving a dollar a day this angel will receive health care and educational opportunities. In addition, her parents will receive help in starting their own income-generating activities, which will in turn help them to provide better for their families and raise their standard of living. We want her to experience all the love of GOD and life in all its fullness. AMEN! Welcome to the family baby girl.

I realized while writing this I have never introduced Daniel to you. Daniel lives in St. Andrew's Africa and we have been sponsoring Daniel for the last two and a half years. We pray for him all the time and write him letters. We meet Daniel through Compassion International and have LOVED everything that Compassion does for Daniel and his immediate family. My kids send him pictures and their artwork and they get very excited when we receive a letter from Daniel. I am amazed at all Compassion can do for $38.00 a month...it's astonishing to me. I know that not everyone is able to financially sponsor a child but if you are I really encourage you to do it. It is very easy on your end and the children are released from a life of poverty.

And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.

Manicures and Pedicures

Earlier this week I took Ally on a special mommy-daughter day. It was very spontaneous and last minute (I know it's weird coming from this mommy) but, we had a blast. I thought I would treat her to one of my favorite indulgences, a pedicure! These sweet ladies were treating Ally like a little princess, and she loved every minute of it.

She chose a beautiful hot pink polish that matched her shirt.

I wish you could hear how Ally was saying, "Oohh, and Ahhh" and "It's so beautiful" the entire time. She brings me such joy!

One happy girl and one happy momma.

Thanks for going with me on our special day!

Some Serious Skills

Basketball season is here! It is by far my favorite sport and I love that Ryan is enjoying it as well. Why do I love it so much? Well...it's inside, there are no rain outs, It's a short season, I love the Woodway Family Center, and my boy is amazing to watch.

Here are my favorite two bobcats sporting their bright orange jerseys.

For the first game Ryan had some faithful fans rooting him on. (Uncle Frank was here too but I didn't get his picture)
These two fans probably had the most fun on the sidelines. (You can see #2 hustling in the background-that's my Ryan)

He had a great game scoring 8 points and several awesome passes. He rocked the WFC!
I was given very direct instructions not to yell too loud. Really, no joke, he's 6 and I am already too loud! I didn't want to embarrass him but I couldn't help but yell a little or maybe I yelled a lot. :-)

Great job #2 and awesome coaching Coach Wood. I am so proud of you both.

Weekend with Lila

We got the privilege of keeping sweet Lila LEW while Kacey and Josh were at the Alamo Bowl (Way to go Raiders). I just love having a one year old in the house. She keeps me on my toes, especially now that she's walking all over the place. She's hilarious and loves to make us laugh. We just love that little one to pieces!

She's also really started talking and would walk around all day saying Hi, Aye (Ally) , Hi Nyan (Ryan). They thought she was pretty cool now that she says their names. While the girls played the boys played on Mark's phone.

You know I love some matching cousins

After baths they played beauty shop. It's funny that Lila knew exactly what to do with the hairbrush, dryer and curling iron. Kacey she must watch your every move 'cause she's got it down:-)!

I think this picture gives me a little flash forward. The look on their faces cracked me up. It's like they were both saying, "can't you see I'm busy here fixin' my hair and making a very important phone call on my Fancy Nancy phone." Enough pictures Aunt Angie!

We loved having you LEW. Come back any time!

A Very Merry Christmas

We had such a wonderful Christmas this year. I feel extremely blessed to have such an amazing family. Our day started off with a trip to Honey and GP's to see what Santa had brought. Every other year we get to celebrate Christmas morning Purdy style. Santa comes to their house and after everyone is awake the kids all run out of the playroom and the craziness begins. I love that my kids are now doing the exact same thing we did growing up. They were VERY excited on the 4 minute car ride over! They must have been extra good this year.

Christmas with the cousins is the best!

I didn't take many pictures because I was on video duty for the day. After a very fun morning, we headed to Aunt JoAnn's to celebrate with the Wood side of the family. This year was extra special because Christopher, our 11 year old nephew, was in town. He and Ryan have a love for Legos! This is what they did the rest of the day.

And somebody else also got her first pink Lego set from Grandma and Grandpa:-).

Uncle Bobby and Ally (she's wearing a pair of her new dress up shoes from Uncle Mike.) Everyday has been dress up day around here.

Grandma and Aunt JoAnn always fix the most amazing food. Thanks again for a wonderful day and all our sweet gifts. Again we are very blessed.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are enjoying 2010!
